Rule No. 1: Steven Moffat lies

Twitter post by Steven Moffat:

"What a melancholy day. A day for a great man to fall and a good man to cry. The end of an era begins at 9 o'clock tonight, BBC1."

Yes, yes, and The Doctor was really, really dead, too... (Mind you, he just said 'fall', not 'die', but it's clear that he's messing with fans' heads.) Mark Gatiss keeps quoting "The Final Problem", so that means ... SH won't die, but just fake his death as in canon? Also, "end of an ERA"? Let's keep things in perspective, OK?
ETA: Another post: "Two tributes to the past, in tonight's Sherlock. True devotees will spot them. THROUGH THEIR TEARS!!!" He's quite enjoying this...
ETA2: "Not long now! Remember it's just a TV show. Only the emotional damage is real." Profound or patronizing?
